FORMAT & rules

  • We are playing a four person scramble tournament with a shotgun start. All golf rules conform to Greystone & USGA Rules.

  • What is a Four Person Scramble?

    • A scramble means that all team members tee off on each hole and then decide which tee shot they like the best and mark the spot with a tee or ball marker.

    • The other team members pick up their balls and place them within one club length (no closer to the hole) of the marked spot. Each team member hits their next shot from there.

    • If the ball you choose to play is in a hazard (sand, water, the rough, etc..), you cannot drop the ball outside of the hazard area even if relief is one club length away.

    • This procedure is followed on every shot for the remainder of the hole, including putts. The ball should be marked on the putting green. Putts need to be made within 3 inches of the marked spot (no closer to the  hole). The first ball to go in the hole is counted for the team score.

  • What is a Shotgun Start?

    • A tournament format in which all groups of players tee off simultaneously from different holes. Each hole on the course will be the tee off hole for each foursome. Group 1 would start from hole 1, Group 2 from hole 2, etc.

    • Each group starts play at the same time. A shotgun start will allow a tournament to end at the same time it takes the slowest foursome to finish a full round or 18 holes of golf.

    • Because we will have up to 30 groups playing, some holes will double up at the par 4 and par 5 holes as A & B teams. Team A will tee off, and after hitting their 2nd shot, Team B will tee off when Team A is cleared from the fairway.

  • Where Do We Tee Off?

    • Men tee off from the back Guitar Tees and women/seniors (62+) MAY tee off from the Gold tees if desired.

    • Each player’s tee shot must be used at least two times during the 18-hole competition (par 3’s count towards a players minimum tee shot usage).

  • Scoring

    • The max score on any hole is a bogey. If your team has missed their par putts, pick up your ball and take a bogey.

    • Remember, this is not a Major Championship! Keep up with pace of play and have fun!… nobody's walking out with a million dollar purse.
